A new low-cost compact positioning controller measuring only 95 x 80 x 68mm, suitable for rail mounting, has been launched in the UK by Motor Technology of Stockport.

Designed and manufactured in Germany by Lenord + Bauer, the new mini positioning controller GEL 8010 packs an impressive array of features despite its small size.

Suitable for position and speed control of variable and two-speed drives and motors, the unit features inputs for 5V or 24V incremental encoders, or SSI absolute encoders. The units can be interfaced to a PC or an operator panel, and may be networked up to 31 controllers.

The GEL 8010 has independent acceleration and deceleration ramps, and 12bit resolution of analogue inputs making it particularly well suited to simple positioning tasks requiring low-cost precision control.

Additionally the units are said to be user friendly, with software for programming and operate-and-observe functions, and are supplied with full technical support to assist one-off and low-volume users.
