A new range of digital servo drives for single-phase, low-power applications has been launched by Motor Technology of Stockport. The Servostar CD range of amplifiers, manufactured by Kollmorgen-Seidel, have been designed to simplify installation and system set-up with Windows software and self-tuning features. Operating at between 115 to 230Vac, there is a choice of three algorithms: Pole Placement, PI, and PDFF for enhanced motor performance.

The new servo drives utilize Motionlink for Windows software that features an advanced motion wizard to automatically take users through a simplified set-up sequence. The software also enables tuning of the torque, speed and position loops. A scope and auto-tuning facility is also provided.

Typical applications will include: converting, handling, packaging, printing and textile machinery etc.

• 3 amp and 6 amp units with peak current of up to 3x nominal

• Self tuning to the load

• CE, UL and CUL approved

• Internal position controller

• Stepper emulation, master / slave and electronic gearing functionality included

• Resolver and encoder compatible (hall-tracks optional)

• S-curve acceleration reducing jerk and machine wear

• Closed loop velocity control bandwidth up to 400Hz

The drives fast control loops (62.5m sec current controller) and high performance are further enhanced by a complete range of low inertia, highly dynamic, non cogging motors.
